Asiatic Cheetah Research in Iran

Asiatic Cheetah Research in Iran

Research into the number of wild Asiatic Cheetah Acinonyx jubatus venaticus in Iran has begun and it is believed that some fairly conclusive results will be available in three months time. Present estimates as to the existing population range between 70 and 100.

There are plans to set up camera traps in some areas and to complement the research by fitting radio collars to selected animals of over 30 kg in weight.
